Question: Where am I? What this site's all about?
Answer: Greetings! Welcome to TFG! This site is collection of fictional articles describing fictional thigns in one unified setting of my fictional world. The site tells a story about alternative earth, with alternate history and politics, which faced the apocalyptic event of cataclysm which led people into massive struggles for survival.
Question: So, what's TFG in this world?
Answer: The First Gateway(formerly referred as TFG) is a civil innitiation which goal is to preserve history and scientific progress of solidum's(local name for earth) mankind. As such, most of articles on the site are written by another organisations(think of it as of GOI formats in SCP)
Question: Does TFG describes real events?
Answer: No. I really wanted to joke about multiverse theory but it neither is able to explain what's going on here.
Question: Is that some sort of an RP?
Answer: No, no, no. TFG is nothing more than a wee fictional project, we all are aware that none of it is real and we do not pretend that it is.
Althought, I ought to mention, that from cannon standpoint, if user "Namely" would write a character called "Agent Namely", or so, then they are able to claim that the character is their version from TFG's reality. Althougt, it's obvious that "Namely" and "Agent Namely" are two different personas, and actions of "Agent Namely" may not represend ideas and morals of user "Namely".
Question: So, who've made it all?
Answer: The guy called Roman Riabukha, the original idea of the universe and lots of articles and characters were created by him. The universe does belongs to him(me), althought selective articles, and described in them events, do belong to their respective creators.
As if, imagine you wrote and article about your own Gateway which inludes GOI created by user Taras. It would imply that you've made the story itself, people are allowed to retell it only by CC BY-SA 3.0 license, Taras made the GOI, so, inside of the universe you used his intelectual property under CC BY-SA 3.0 license, and the world as a whole belongs to me(
Roman Riabukha) and you've used it under the same license. As such, neither do me, neither do Taras have rights to your story.
Question: So, articles are made by members of the site, can I make one?
Answer: Yes, but you oughta meet few wee requirments. First, be a member of the site, you can join here. After which, please, read some of our guides, especially "How to write an article".
When you have a ready article to publish, please contact
Roman Riabukha on wikidot or discord(savageroma). He will either aprove the text or help you with making it good enought to be published in here. If text gets approven,
Roman Riabukha will by himself add it to all the needed lists.
The method articles currently are approved is temporary. soon there will be sandbox site where other people would rate and review the articles, helping you getting better.
Question: What if I want to create a project in TFG universe?
Answer: Well, if you won't charge money for it, you can do literally anything, a game, a movie, a fanfic etc. But if you want it to be a full-on product you better ask a persmision and agree on demands of original authors and
Roman Riabukha(unless they're dead), and obviosuly, mention them in credits. If you'd ever make a project in TFG universe it'll be shared with the same license as the TFG project, if you want to read about our license in details, here's the link
Question: Why is 14 the required age to join the site?
Answer: Because I fucking said so At age of 14, in several countries, some legal obligations are fallen on persons (as if, requirment of passport or responsibility for their legal actions). As such, I consider 14 to be a worthy age of maturity to be a member of TFG.
Question: So… I can't join if I'm less than 14?
Answer: Just be very quite about that and pretend to be slightly older.
Articles are the essential basis of the TFG Innitiation project, they are created by the community and may tell different stories about different ideas, individuals, objects, palces and events inside the TFG world. As such, we differenciate them in 5 categories: Gateways (GW), Demons (DM), Locations (LC), Artifacts (AF) and the special category of tales. Let's elaborate on each of the categories:
GW - is the most complicated category, indeed. Gateways are stated to be a special non-physical spaces created by human imagination and ideas, they could be accessed via several ritualistic methods, stated in respective articles. The idea of the Gateways inside of the TFG universe is to explore ideas of certain groups, certain deinities, certain ideologies inside the normal format of "found material", let I call it so. Althought, gateways could describe a rather, abstract domain, but, there always ought to be few certain main ideas of what GW is based on.
DM - Demons classified as everything which's both sentient and abnormal, a dragon that breaths fire, a toaster that kills crabs specificly for some reasons, a cassete that's able to speak, all of these are demons. Whatsoever that can react on its outer enviroment, whilest not being a mechanism per se, is a Demon. Lorewise, demons are urban way to call beings to be appeared after the cataclysm, but some did exist way before named events.
LC - Well, the name speaks for itself, it's a location with certain abnormal phenomenon or inhabitans. One thing I ought to mention is that if a location has too many inhabits you need no making DM articles about them all, just classify them as "LC-███-A1 "Codename:Bohdan" or so. And also, location could be not abnormal but just interesting for TFG in some regards.
AF - Artifacts bassically are whatsoever can be called abnormal, which also isn't sentient(neither councious, if you are silly enough to ask.). Artifacts could be things as: rune that makes you fly, ritual that makes your mom disappear, ramen that is poisonous for colledge students specifically. You name it.
Tales - Tales are the special category, both inside the TFG universe and the site. Tales do describe certain events, they could be written both as in formal style, that we are used to at this site, or in more romantisized. Think of it as of the way to tell a story you couldn't tell in four previous categories.
But all the categories do have one thing in common: They do exist in TFG's universe, and are written/preserved by the TFG Innitiation participants. Everything you can know, someone in TFG's universe does knows. Of course, there can be some articles that by cannon, for example, belong only to one person, but it's a rare situation. Only exception, as mentioned above, are tales, they can be not a documents but a retell of a tale that did happened in TFG's universe.
So, let us say that now you are a member, let's discuss few situation that may occur:
I do not know how to write an article, and frankly don't exactly will to, yet
It's incredibly okay! Not all members ought to be writers, you can be helpful even if you are not a poet. First of, just by reading and ranking articles you help us to become more popular, and frankly, one rank up to the page of some author could bring them a bit of happiness to their humble day!
Second of all, you could be a critic, if you will so. You can either write small comments, about some wee details you liked our found funny, or either, you can write a whole-arse critique on the article. If your comment sizes too much, you'd ought to put it in a [[colapsible]] module. And also, read the formation guide before making such comments.
And I oughta say. Small comments with no critique but calling people names and their articles boring are not engaged at all, if you just didn't like the article, it's more than okay, just do not be unproffesional about it, either just press the downvote or make a normal critique, no thing in betwixt!
I found a grammatic or logical error or mistake in a text, could I fix it?
Grammatical - yes, it's very engaged. But if you found a logical loophole, please contact the author and elaborate on this mistake. Author would then need to contact
Roman Riabukha to ask for a permission on editing article.
I wrote an article but I do not like it anymore, can I delete it?
Well, it depends, the story belongs to you as far as it is on the site and licensed under our license, but, anyone can use it, so, in situation when you want it to get deleted, you'd ought to find a recepient for this article. The recepient, if they'd agree to be one, would simply need to remade the article to their liking, while saving the lore continuity. As such, we do not engage anyone to "delete" their articles. Since, sometimes, they do have too much of a lore weight.
It's complicated, can I just delete it?
If, noone have ever used it in their tale or etc, then yea. If it has a certain lore weight the requirments stated above are needed for the countinuity of the whole project.
I made an article, everybody are critiquing it!
Well, that's only natural, if you somehow managed to get your article on the main site, then, it did was approved by
Roman Riabukha, but he's not a God after all, so even if he(I) liked your article, it doesn't mean everyone would. Just, mate, attempt it to read into their critique and find your flaws and attempt to fix them next time.
My article got deleted!
Ah, yea, forgot to mention, if score of your article is equal to or lesser than -2 we are deleting it. We do not want to have garbage pages on our site. The copies of garbage articles are stored in archive
So, the EVIL ADMINISTRATION deleted my bloody article, can I simply remake it?
Ye. As everybody else also can do. Deleted articles are stored in archive, so, everybody can read one.
They made a weird story of my (maybe even deleted) article's personage getting killed by an absurd reason!
They do have rights to.
Now, let us talk about things you can get banned for:
- Making useless (spam-y) pages
- Spamming with comments
- Uploading pages without aproval
- Uploading huge useless files
- Changing sense of an article or flat-out turning articles into trash.
- Hating a certain author because of personal reasons
- Hating any user in comments without real critique and with usage of swears (using swears in articles and tales is allowed)
- Terrorist, politic, religious or any other sort of propaganda (unless it's propaganda in the article which's based on in-universe politics)
- Pornography and explicit content. Unless it is heavily censored and is related to the theme of your article/tale and is approved by administration. Also if page includes censored pornographic content you'd ought to warn users that the page is 18+ only.
- Doxxing and Deanonymisation of site members or any other users on internet
- Hate speech or over-tolerance
- And overall, just be a normal person.
I, Roman Riabukha, hope that you won't give me reasons to ban any of y'all. I ought to mention that in the biggest part of situations, where you somehow broke a rule or two, you'd be contacted by the administration who'd want to hear your reasoning on breaking the rules. In certain situations, they may forgive you, but it'd be very unlikely.
Question: So, let us imagine, I wrote few pretty decent articles, but suddenly, you lot discovered that I'm less than 14; 12 for example, what's then?
Answer: Well, de-jure, you've broke one of our rules, but I can make an exeption. If you behave properly and really are a capable artist. But again, if you're underage it'll be better for you to keep it as a secret, at least not to make other members feel awkward.
Question: I found few articles that do contradict each other, which of these are cannon? And overall, what is cannon here?
Answer: Question about cannon is a rather tough one to answer. It's a subjective matter after all. De-facto, fundamental cannon is one that is in articles of
Roman Riabukha, but I do not exactly like the idea that my articles and GOIs are somehow better. Rather, I imagine, that every article is cannon, and those who do contradict are just files that had different sources.
Question: Can I somehow get promoted to the administration?
Answer: Yes, if you'll be working on the site for a big while and would get close enough to other members of administration(only
Roman Riabukha so far). Also you might be promoted to moderator if you'll just be an active member. And yes, I,
Roman Riabukha can dispromote you if I'd ever will to. Of course, I would give you reasoning as to why you'd get dispromoted.
Question: Can I write something other than article or tale, a guide for example?
Answer: Yes, besides the articles there are hubs and guides on the site. Hubs are overall wiki-pages that summarize certain ideologies, groups, countries or religions or etcetera in the TFG universe. Guides are, well, guides. Rules for uploading guides and hubs are the same to articles.
Question: Who is "The Green One"?
Answer: The sneakiest of quacksalvers.
